What Companda is

Companda is a private, free project that lets groups plan together. We do our best to keep everything running, but we can’t guarantee it. Amounts, costs and travel times are there to help you plan and may be wrong.

These terms apply as soon as you start a group, join one, join the chat or create an account. By tapping the button for it, you agree to them.

Age

Companda is for people aged 16 and over. Anyone younger needs their parents’ permission.

What you add

Whatever you add can be seen by the others in the same group. So only send the link to people who should be part of it, and don’t add anything that hurts others or breaks the law. Don’t add health data such as allergies or illnesses, yours or anyone else’s. How we handle data is explained in the privacy policy.

What you write or upload stays yours. You only allow us to store it and show it to the people who may see it in the group, for as long as it’s there.

Rules for messages and content

Everything you write, send or upload in Companda must follow these rules: no harassment, no threats, no hate against people, for example because of their origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age. No pornography, no graphic violence, nothing that breaks the law or violates other people’s rights, such as photos of people without their consent. There is zero tolerance for this, in private conversations too. In the chat, a simple word filter stops crude insults before they’re sent.

If something bothers you, press and hold the message and tap “Report”. You can also block the person. Then you won’t see their messages anymore, and they can’t message you privately. For anything else, write to hello@companda.app.

How we handle reports

You can report in the app or, also without an account, by email to hello@companda.app. Tell us which group and which content it is about and why it breaks these rules or the law. Your name and email address are optional, but without them we can’t reply. We confirm reports we receive by email.

A person looks at every report, usually within 24 hours. We don’t use automated moderation. The word filter only stops messages before they’re sent and decides nothing about content that’s already there. Anything that breaks these rules or the law gets deleted. Anyone who doesn’t follow them can be removed from groups and banned from Companda altogether.

If we delete something of yours or ban you, we tell you by email what we did, why and under which rule, provided we have your address. Anyone who reported by email also hears how we decided. If you disagree with a decision, reply to the email or write to hello@companda.app, and we’ll look at it again. You can also turn to an out-of-court dispute settlement body or a court.

We may report criminal content to the authorities. If something points to a threat to someone’s life or safety, we inform the police.

Rides

Companda does not arrange rides. People who travel together agree on it among themselves and are responsible for it themselves.

Google Maps

The detour calculation and the map for carpools use Google Maps. When you use them, the Google Maps Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy also apply.
